 Montague Island

Australia, NSW

English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): The island is a popular dive site with many locations and hosts a great variety of fish and plant life. During the southern whale migration (October - November) whale songs can be heard quite distinctively. Fish varieties includes: Blue and Brown Gropers, Grey Nurse, Port Jackson and Wobbegong Sharks, Fiddler Rays, Common Rays, Damsels, Morwongs, many species of Wrasse, Old Wives, Leatherjackets, Weedy Seadragons, Lion Fish, Snapper, Schooling Yellow Tails just to name a few. Pelagic fish species such as Yellow Tail King Fish, Salmon and Tuna can be seen at different times of the year.

Dives vary from Open Water to Advanced Open Water, depending on depth and current. Verification should be obtained prior to planning your dive. Your camera is a must to capture your experience, but don’t let that discourage you from diving.

When planning your dive, the locations and different depths are close enough so as not to reverse profile.

Montague Island is part of the Batemans Marine Park. The Batemans Park Zoning Plan (effective from 30 June 2007) aims to conserve marine biodiversity while allowing sustainable recreational and commercial activities.
