30th Dive - 1st 100+ ft dive. The boat was tiny and I got a little sick on the way out, which took away from the dive experience. Plus, I lost half my weights somehow and didnt realize until the end of the day. That could have been really bad. The water was free

Video from YouTube -

This video was filmed last July on the artificial wreck, "HMCS Yukon", when a large school of juvenile fish made it a summer home. It was a milestone for the artificial reef in proving that it could be an attractive habitat for a thriving fish population. As soon as we heard about the fish, we jumped on the first open dive boat. The juvenile fish attracted predators, including jellyfish, ling cod and some crabs.

The second dive on the video was in the kelp and it includes an encounter with a bat ray that played chicken with my camera and California seal, which played hide and seek with us.

underwater life on the yukon - There's much more life growing on the wreck than when it was first sunk. The Metridium Gigantium growing on it cover large portions of the underside of the hull. There are also colonies of pink strawberry anemonies. Much more growth now than there used to be.
